Fun with LEGO® MINDSTORMS® at January Meeting

Everyone enjoyed seeing and trying out the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® robots at the January 22, 2010 meeting of the Utah Valley LabVIEW User group, held at Thanksgiving Point.

More importantly, everyone was impressed and enthused for the opportunity to teach and help elementary school kids to learn robotics and programming as Will, Russ and Ron talked about the Mindstorms league and yearly competition to be held again this year at Lagoon.

Kids use a simplified programming language to create robots that compete by following a line or running a maze, sumo wrestling and other tasks. Under the hood the robots are really running on LabVIEW, and so everyone got a chance to get hands on with the LabVIEW Add-on for LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT.

Stayed tuned for information on our next scheduled meeting in late March or early April. We saw several new faces at this meeting and the group continues to grow, so plan to attend and meet other LabVIEW programmers.
