November 2011 User Group Meeting

Announcing the upcoming meeting of the Utah
Valley LabVIEW User Group meeting on Friday, November 4 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at:

Erin Parsons from the University of Utah Department of Mechanical Engineering BioInstrumentation Laboratory will be discussing a LabVIEW and NI-DAQmx-based application for vibrotactile instrumentation that is being developed and used in her research. The device is used to screen for nerve damage in the fingertips and can test for symptoms of diabetes and carpal tunnel syndrome. We will also have a discussion about Common LabVIEW Coding Errors with time for questions and answers. Anyone is welcome to participate in the discussion or to ask a LabVIEW question, so please come prepared to contribute and learn!

July 8 Meeting Round-up

Thanks to everyone who participated in today's meeting! Will Gardner, Boeing, told us about the Lego Mindstorms league's activities for this year and showed some of the robots. Congrats to his school, Bluff Ridge Elementary, on winning the Mindstorms Sumo competition at Lagoon! Robert Mortenson, VPI Engineering, presented several LabVIEW tips. Check the UVLabview Group Page at NI.com for some of the alt-codes and other tip information. Dr. Bonnie Anderson and Ryan Badger from Utah Valley University gave an update on the Capitol Reef Field Station monitoring project and showed their innovative solution for monitoring propane levels on the off-grid utility system.

Garry Garrett from NOV IntelliServ will present on Interfacing with SQL databases in LabVIEW. This presentation will show different ways of interfacing to SQL, constructing queries, optimization, best practices and a case study based on S-Parameter data collection in a production environment. There will also be a LabVIEW Tips and Tricks segment.
